ICON SPORTS & ENTERTAINMENT GROUP
The idea of bringing together athletes and entertainers is nothing new. After retiring from professional football CEO Derrick Burroughs embarked on a new business venture, promoting live entertainment. Through promoting live entertainment it was evident that entertainers had an interest in the sports world and professional athletes loved socializing with entertainers.
Icon Sports’ Entertainment Division was created for the purpose of promoting live entertainment as well as hosting fund raising events for various civic groups, Historically Black Colleges & Universities (HBCUs) and non-profit organizations.
Icon Sports & Entertainment Group has focused on promoting “Old School” acts such as Kool & The Gang, The Bar-Kays, Cherrelle, Alexander O’Neal, Tony Terry, Jennifer Holiday, as well as the “Queen of Blues” Denise LaSalle. In the future Icon Sports & Entertainment plans to become more diverse in its entertainment ventures with plans to promote up and coming R&B and hip-hop artists.
